Rona Blogs: Day 1

If only people understood how important it is to be consistent. Everything that has value in life is a product of consistency. success, health, fitness, wealth, friendships, relationships, and all other aspirations are all about consistency.

I saw the quote above a few days ago, and it really resonated with me. Much of the success I have had came about because I consistently kept working at it. There are so many things that I want to do and accomplish, so this reminder is truly timely. In case someone comes back to this particular post long into the future, we are currently dealing with Covid-19. It’s impact to the way we live is unprecedented. Many countries have closed their borders to others, thousands of people have died from it, and in California there is a prediction that 56% of its residents will contract it.

I am Ony, which is short for Onyeka. I am the owner and founder of Onyeka Tefari. I took photo a few days ago while I was laying on the grass in my garden, catching the last few rays of sunshine after a rainy day. Spring is now officially here, and while I had seen signs of spring in previous weeks, today really gave me so much excitement of its arrival.

In the past, this blog featured articles/posts about specific topics on physical conditions, yoni steams, yoga, etc. That makes sense since I do provide massage, yoga, and yoni steam services. While laying there, I toyed with the idea of updating my blog more often, and with a more personal approach. You see, as of March 19th, the state of California were ordered to stay at home. I had previously closed my appointment book for the rest of March. This meant I would in theory have more time to work on the website.

A day later, while taking inventory of the vegetables that were almost ready for harvest, I decided to share my experience here on the blog. The plan is to share at least one post a day of the next 30 days about my daily experiences. I definitely feel like I am going to a transition of sorts, and I am inviting you to join me on this journey. You are welcomed to leave comments, questions, words of encouragement, etc. Your support will help to keep me consistent and motivated.

I would like to deepen my connection with myself, and with those who want to be connected with me. This situation has definitely affected my mental state, and I feel a bit vulnerable. I acknowledge these feelings, and will use different tools to help address them. My new daily life looks a lot different than just a week ago. I will embrace it, and share it with each of you. My hope is that this journey evolves into a stronger community with my friends and followers. Let us check in on each other.

What does my new daily look like?

  • Time spent meditating and looking within
  • Exercising and a deepened yoga practice
    • a few workout challenges
    • finding workouts that work in small spaces
    • workouts not requiring weights
  • Self care pampering
    • Yoni Steams
    • Facials
    • bath soaks
    • foot soaks
  • making meals from scratch
    • I am not leaving the house, so I will have to make meals with what is already here.
    • I have to use food from my garden for fresh greens and vegetables
    • For the first time in recent memory, I have to really ration what remains here.
  • Learning new skills
    • Soap making
    • Embroidery
    • making reusable paper towels
    • making nontoxic cleaning supplies
    • Better organization skills
  • Gardening
    • Planting new seeds
    • pulling weeds
    • making teas from herbs

There are so many other things that I can potentially do in the next 3o days. I have decided to not go out or allow anyone in. I hope that with many of us not being able to keep in touch, this blog will being us together. We are all in this together, and this situation has added to our journeys. ┬áTogether we can all come out of this situation a stronger, healthier, better version of ourselves. Let’s get it!
