Seeds of Knowledge & Sweet Rewards: A Recap of Our September Bantaba

Hello, wonderful community!

What a joy it was to gather with you all this past weekend for our September Bantaba. The air was buzzing with positive energy, shared laughter, and the sweet, tangy scent of pomegranates. If you missed it, don’t worry—we’re here to give you a little glimpse into the magic.

This month, we dug into a topic that’s fundamental to any thriving garden: nutrition! Specifically, we explored how to create a powerful, calcium-based fertilizer using natural ingredients. We discussed why calcium is a superstar nutrient for preventing common garden woes (like blossom end rot in tomatoes!) and how a simple, homemade solution can give our plants the strong foundation they need to flourish. It was incredible to see the lightbulb moments and hear everyone’s ideas for customizing their own plant-powered blends.

And from the foundational, we moved to the fruitful! We were treated to a brilliant demonstration on the most efficient way to cut a pomegranate. Gone are the days of stained fingers and flying juice! Our presenter showed us a simple, water-based technique that yields perfect, jewel-like arils with minimal mess. It was a game-changer for everyone in attendance!

Of course, no Bantaba is complete without sharing the harvest. Our communal table was a beautiful, bountiful spread of seasonal delights. We shared stories and samples of fresh pomegranates, crisp apples, vibrant collard greens, lush kale, and passion fruit seeds destined for future gardens. It was a true testament to the abundance we can create and share when we come together.
