What to expect
Cleanse
The treatment begins with a thorough cleanse using Dermodality Blemish Control Wash to remove surface impurities, excess oil, and any product or environmental buildup from the back. A clean canvas is essential before any active treatment can work effectively.
Active exfoliation
Dermodality Pumpkin Enzyme Peel is applied to the back to begin breaking down congestion, dissolving the bonds that hold dead skin cells at the surface, and preparing the pores for extraction. The enzyme is left to work for a timed period based on the skin's current condition.
Manual extractions
Extractions address active congestion — blackheads, whiteheads, and clogged pores are cleared manually. The back can accumulate significant congestion that topical products alone cannot clear, making this step one of the most impactful parts of the treatment.
Clarifying mask
A Clarifying Charcoal Mask is applied to draw out any remaining impurities, minimize the appearance of pores, and leave the skin calm and purified. The session closes with a lightweight moisturizer to restore the skin's barrier.
High-frequency therapy
High-frequency light is applied across the back to eliminate acne-causing bacteria at the skin's surface, reduce active inflammation, and accelerate the healing of any open or recently extracted areas. This step is what separates a clinical back treatment from a standard back facial.

If you are new to the Onyeka Tefari Acne Clinic and want to address both face and back acne, discuss this at your Acne Intake & Clarity Treatment appointment and your provider will build both into your protocol schedule.
Maintaining your results between visits
Because the back is difficult to reach at home, maintaining results between appointments depends heavily on what you can realistically do in your own routine. At your appointment your provider will give you simple, practical home care guidance — body wash recommendations, how to exfoliate safely between visits, and what to avoid that may be contributing to your breakouts. Breathable fabrics, clean gym gear changed immediately after workouts, and avoiding heavy body butters or oils on the back are starting points most clients benefit from.
