New Moon Hike & Intention Circle: A Monthly Journey from Darkness to Light
January 18 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Free
As we stand at the threshold of 2026, the first New Moon invites us into a powerful space of quiet potential. Under the cover of the dark sky, we release the old and plant the seeds of the new.
Join Onyeka Tefari for our inaugural 2026 Monthly New Moon Hike, a practice of moving our bodies in sync with the lunar cycle. We’ll walk in community along the Father Junipero Serra Trail to the Grinding Rock Trail, listening to the flow of the San Diego River—a reminder that even in stillness, there is movement beneath the surface.
This month’s theme: THE WHISPER | Cultivating a Kinder Inner Voice.
The New Moon is a time of introspection. What is the quality of the conversation within? This hike will be a moving meditation to observe and gently shift our self-talk from criticism to curiosity. We’ll pause for a brief intention-setting circle, using the quiet of the new moon to commit to one small, compassionate phrase we can offer ourselves in the month ahead (“I am learning,” “I am enough,” “I choose peace”).
This is more than a hike; it’s a monthly ritual to reset, reflect, and connect—to nature, to community, and to our own inner guidance.
