Buck Moon Sunset and Full moon Hike
July 29 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Free
Join us for a sunset hike on the eve of the full moon as we take the less-crowded service road route up Cowles Mountain. This moderate, gradual ascent offers wide-open views of San Diego – the perfect vantage point to watch the sun dip below the horizon and the full moon begin to rise.
What to Expect:
- Pace: Leisurely to moderate, suitable for most fitness levels
- Distance: ~2.5 miles round trip
- Terrain: Dirt road, wide and stable
What to Bring:
- Headlamp or flashlight (red light mode recommended)
- Good hiking or trail shoes
- Layers – it cools down quickly after sunset
- Water (at least 1 liter per person)
- Optional: hiking poles, camera, small snack
Special Note:
- The full moon officially rises shortly after our hike ends – we’ll catch its early glow from the summit
- We’ll hike as a group; no one will be left behind in the dark
