SUMMARY:Hiking San Diego: Three Sisters Falls Trail
DESCRIPTION:Three Sisters Falls is a great hike for rock scramble lovers and a popular waterfall destination in the Cleveland National Forest of Southern California. The falls slow to a trickle in the late summer months but the views are incredible year round! Hikers will find a variety of native desert plants and lots of animal life. Start early or late in the day as it gets hot\, bring lots of water\, and use caution as this is a challenging hike that involves scrambling\, rock traversing— particularly if hiking to the third waterfall or traversing the rocky bottom. This route is not recommended for kids or dogs due to these sections. The trail has been greatly improved and rerouted so ropes are no longer needed. \nAn adventure pass is required to be displayed in vehicles when using the Forest for recreation purpose. Information about where to purchase day/multi-day/annual passes can be found here.

SUMMARY:Hiking San Diego: Iron Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday September 17th as we take on Iron Mountain located Poway California. We will be setting out at 5:30AM from the trail head. The views at the top are beautiful\, and there are so many picturesque views on the way up. RSVP below to let us know you plan on joining us\, so we can look out for you. \nFrom All Trails \nOne of San Diego’s most popular hikes\, the Iron Mountain Trail leads to the second highest peak in Poway and offers great views of Northern San Diego County. On a clear day\, hikers can see Mt. Woodson as well as the Catalina Islands. The hike takes place just west of the Boulder Oaks Preserve and the Iron Mountain trailhead is accessed just south of the intersection of Poway Road and CA – 67. There is no shade on this hike so bring plenty of water and sunscreen. \nThe trail starts flat along a wide sandy trail heading east\, eventually getting steeper. There are some very rocky and washed-out sections\, so sturdy boots are recommended. Hikers soon reach the Ellie Lane Trail and take a right towards Iron Mountain. There are numerous switchbacks before reaching the summit. Visitors can also access the Wildwood Mountain and Ellie Lane hiking trails from the Iron Mountain trailhead. \nHead out on this 5.9-mile out-and-back trail near Poway\, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route\, it takes an average of 2 h 52 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking and running\, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome\, but must be on a leash.

SUMMARY:Raw 'til 4
DESCRIPTION:This is a month long journey that I (Onyeka Tefari) will be embarking on. I have previously done shorter bouts of this challenge\, but it’s a new month. With the way that I have been eating and the realization/acceptance or some of my vices… It is time for me to attempt to detox from some of my bad habits.  If you would like to join in\, definitely leave a comment\, and/or join this Facebook Group to jump in the discussion! \nHow does it work? (and my modifications) \nThe premise is pretty simple\, you only consume raw fruits and vegetables upon waking up until 4:00PM daily. Since I am doing this for the entire month\, and I know myself… I am building a few adjustments (for me). I am adding herbal teas to the mix. Technically they are infusions\, but they will be a part of my daily consumption. They are caffeine free (unless I drink green tea). If I do drink green tea\, I will ensure that I double my water intake and only have green tea early in the morning to avoid disruption to my sleep schedule. I may add cashews or walnuts\, but those would be limited to within 1 hour of 4:00\, and only 3 times a week. \nObviously this is how I plan on doing this for me\, and you are more than free to adjust this for your needs. Your primary intake should be raw until 4 though. \nRight now this is a virtual event with the opportunity to build in some meet ups depending on interests. Feel free to lend any support you can give.

SUMMARY:San Diego Hike: Tecolote Canyon Trail
DESCRIPTION:What better way to start Sunday morning than with a hike?!  We will be hitting the Tecolote Canyon Trail\, and would love to have you join us. We do hike a at relatively faster pace\, and this hike is ~6.7 miles round trip. If you feel you are up for the challenge\, then please RSVP below to let us know you plan on joining us. \nFrom All Trails \nExperience this 6.7-mile out-and-back trail near San Diego\, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route\, it takes an average of 2 h 20 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking\, mountain biking\, and running\, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome\, but must be on a leash. \nA relatively flat\, easy to walk trail with a few steep inclines (as long as you keep to the west) with a few creek crossings after rains toward Genesee. While this route is an out-and-back\, there are plenty of different side routes leading up and out of the canyon to the surrounding neighborhoods offering a choose your own adventure type hike. The trail transitions from a fire road to a single track. The trails surroundings transition from the south end to the north end. At the north end there is great tree cover and shade as you’re walking near the creek (not the cleanest). At the south end theres low plants and you’ll be exposed to the sun. Keep an ear open for approaching mountain bikes.
