SUMMARY:Hiking San Diego: Iron Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday September 17th as we take on Iron Mountain located Poway California. We will be setting out at 5:30AM from the trail head. The views at the top are beautiful\, and there are so many picturesque views on the way up. RSVP below to let us know you plan on joining us\, so we can look out for you. \nFrom All Trails \nOne of San Diego’s most popular hikes\, the Iron Mountain Trail leads to the second highest peak in Poway and offers great views of Northern San Diego County. On a clear day\, hikers can see Mt. Woodson as well as the Catalina Islands. The hike takes place just west of the Boulder Oaks Preserve and the Iron Mountain trailhead is accessed just south of the intersection of Poway Road and CA – 67. There is no shade on this hike so bring plenty of water and sunscreen. \nThe trail starts flat along a wide sandy trail heading east\, eventually getting steeper. There are some very rocky and washed-out sections\, so sturdy boots are recommended. Hikers soon reach the Ellie Lane Trail and take a right towards Iron Mountain. There are numerous switchbacks before reaching the summit. Visitors can also access the Wildwood Mountain and Ellie Lane hiking trails from the Iron Mountain trailhead. \nHead out on this 5.9-mile out-and-back trail near Poway\, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route\, it takes an average of 2 h 52 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking and running\, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome\, but must be on a leash.

SUMMARY:San Diego Hike: Tecolote Canyon Trail
DESCRIPTION:What better way to start Sunday morning than with a hike?!  We will be hitting the Tecolote Canyon Trail\, and would love to have you join us. We do hike a at relatively faster pace\, and this hike is ~6.7 miles round trip. If you feel you are up for the challenge\, then please RSVP below to let us know you plan on joining us. \nFrom All Trails \nExperience this 6.7-mile out-and-back trail near San Diego\, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route\, it takes an average of 2 h 20 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking\, mountain biking\, and running\, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome\, but must be on a leash. \nA relatively flat\, easy to walk trail with a few steep inclines (as long as you keep to the west) with a few creek crossings after rains toward Genesee. While this route is an out-and-back\, there are plenty of different side routes leading up and out of the canyon to the surrounding neighborhoods offering a choose your own adventure type hike. The trail transitions from a fire road to a single track. The trails surroundings transition from the south end to the north end. At the north end there is great tree cover and shade as you’re walking near the creek (not the cleanest). At the south end theres low plants and you’ll be exposed to the sun. Keep an ear open for approaching mountain bikes.
